STEM Fellows

Hands-on, immersive experiential learning

The STEM Fellows Program

ENGAGING STEM LESSONS AND COLLEGE/CAREER READINESS  COURSES

The STEM Fellows Program supports low-income students of color in New Orleans who show an aptitude (natural ability to) and/or interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) to pursue careers in these fields.

Despite STEM jobs representing the fastest growing and highest wage sectors of New Orleans’ economy, students of color continue to be underrepresented. STEM Fellows’ free program is crucial for our youth in opening the doors to economic opportunity provided by STEM careers.

STEM Fellows engage in hands-on, immersive experiential learning through 8-month long mini-courses for two-four hours on Saturdays that are designed to address real-world problems in different STEM fields. Fellows also assist with at least one STEM Saturday monthly to elementary school students. 2nd-4th year Fellows will have opportunities for internships, innovation competitions, professional mentorships, college application assistance and recommendation letters.

The STEM Fellows program will allow our high school youth to be exposed to high quality STEM mini courses and a network of like-minded peers and professionals. STEM Fellows will inspire our youth to develop a curated interest in the STEM field by engaging in activities and courses to meet their educational, networking, and professional needs.
